Rivington Hotel Penthouse Party...LES

7/13/08

Since my best friend Danielle's recent arrival to NYC, I've been spending a lot of my time in the Lower East Side where she currently resides. This was the case on Sunday when her, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in at the Hotel on Rivington (conveniently located just around the corner from her apartment) for a late afternoon cocktail. As we were sitting outside at Thor, people watching and enjoying the wonderful breeze, someone spotted my boyfriend and eventually asked if we'd like to come upstairs to the Penthouse for a private party. Little did we know it was going to be this vast duplex, completely glassed in, with ridiculous 360 degree views. The real kicker, though, the suites 3rd floor: A spacious landscaped rooftop terrace complete with jacuzzi and, of course, even more ridiculous views. I love discovering new things serendipitously...

Nice view

My pictures hardly to the space justice. I highly recommend clicking here to really see what I'm talking about. Until next Sunday...

Neil Jackson Beach Themed Birthday House Party...LES

7/12/08

Now THIS is my idea of a good house party. The highly anticipated arrival of the "Neil Jackson Beach Themed Birthday House Party" has come and gone (until next year...), but the memories--and these pictures--are forever. Call me old, but it's been quite some time since I've been to a Heineken-sponsored, wall-to-wall packed party in the Lower East Side complete with 2 DJ tables, full lighting design and big flat screen TV monitor overlooking a makeshift dance floor. Here's to good times...

Birthday boy Neil and Crazy Legs

Side note:
OK, as much as I don't like to include bashing of any sort on my blog, I feel it's my fashionable duty (this is MY house of style, after all...) to offer a word of advice on the subject of "perching." Ladies, it is never a good look to let your toes hang far over the ends of your shoes, almost to the point of touching the ground. Shoes speak volumes about ones style and it is one of the ultimate faux pas to perch like a bird, especially in fabulous shoes. They're called foot petals. Please use them...

...And only because this was a beach-themed party is it OK that this guy is wearing these rainbow glasses. Note to boys: Kanye doesn't wear these anymore. You shouldn't either.

Spotlight Penthouse, Times Square

7/9/08

There are two things in particular that I love about this girl's outfit. One, the pink 'do rag on her head--an '80s throwback done well. Two, her lime green jumpsuit in combination with her pink 'do rag--a look that few gals can pull off and look adorable in. Hooray for green jumpsuit girl!

Ladies in the LES...

6/26/08

One thing I love about New York is the great people watching. Like, you could just be sitting at, say, Spitzer's, an always packed "gastropub" in the Lower East Side and randomly take pictures of stylish passersby. This was the case when my girlfriend Robyn and I met up for drinks and a long overdue catch-up session on Thursday evening...

This girl passed by once and I missed her. Fortunately she passed by again so I shouted out to her, "Excuse me! Can I please take your picture!" How cool is she in her Pucci-esque ensemble?! And check out those shoes. This ain't an easy look to pull off, and she's rockin' it!

These ladies prove that you just can't go wrong with black and white...

This is Jodi Lin. I met her at Patrick McDonald's "Cocktails & Cufflinks" party earlier this season (see coverage below). She just happened to pass by and I just happened to shout out at her not knowing it was her at first. That's what I love about NYC. You always run into people you haven't seen in while....Loving the wraparound wedges, btw.

Manhattan Magazine Preview Party @ Salon de Ning, The Peninsula Hotel, NYC

6/12/08

What better way to spend a Wednesday evening than hangin' high atop 5th Avenue at Salon de Ning, the new Shanghai-chic rooftop bar and lounge at the posh Peninsula Hotel, to preview the also new Manhattan Magazine? All in perfect 84 degree weather no less.

While I'll admit that I didn't even get a chance to look at the magazine (I'm sure it's wonderful), I did enjoy all the pretty dresses, designer handbags and breathtaking views of midtown (the open bar with exotic vodka cocktails and delicious Peking duck rolls didn't suck either).

Thank you to my always fabulous date Glenn Belverio for having me.

This girl had the most beautiful vintage Dior clutch! I had to get a shot of it with her cute dragonfly brooch.

I'm a sucker for spectacular city views--especially during sunset...

...But to give a more clear idea of the rooftop atmosphere, I took the liberty of stealing some photos of Salon de Ning from NYmag.com.

Knockin' on heaven's door: Glenn, post-party, in front of a church we walked passed on the way home. Great door, right?

At this point, I should have really been in that cab passing by behind me instead of standing on 5th Ave. taking pictures...

Cool Kids on the Block, Greene St., SoHo...

5/22/08

I love seeing groups of kids just hanging out on the street like this. Maybe its a sign that I'm getting old or something. The mere fact that I call them "kids" is quite telling in itself...I don't know. In any event, my boyfriend and I were driving up Greene St. on our way to dinner when we passed by these guys chillin' -- what a great photo op. So he stopped the car, ran out and snapped this photo of them for me. I love how they all just knew how and where to pose themselves. Aren't kids fabulous!?
